SEBKİDER President Yusuf Kılınç, highlighting that free zones have become a base for production, employment, and high-value exports, stated in his announcement that in 2023, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, and Izmir were the top four provinces in terms of export volumes, with exports worth 95.8 billion dollars, 18.7 billion dollars, 16.2 billion dollars, and 13.9 billion dollars, respectively. He noted, “Had they been included in the provincial ranking, free zones, with an export volume of 12.7 billion dollars, would have ranked fifth. Last year, free zones were sixth in this ranking, following Ankara, thus they have moved up a rank this year. While only 24 provinces in Türkiye managed to export more than a billion dollars annually, this year, five of our free zones increased their exports to over a billion dollars each.”
